Tom with Moana Marine installed a new membrane and
pump heads to our Spectra watermaker. He also relocated
the membrane to a different and much cooler location. We
are hoping we will now get a few years of service from our
watermaker without the high annual costs that we have been
incurring. We had thought the pumps had been failing so we
bought new ones last year and one this year. It turns out that the pumps
themselves were fine, and it is the pressure switches on the pump heads that were
failing. Spectra really ought to find a way to get more people with Tom’s knowledge
out here (South Pacific). We learned more from Tom at Moana Marine than we did
from the Spectra website and he can replace a pump in about 1/3 the time it takes
me to do it. I only wish he was headed our way over the next few years.
Moana Marine repaired the huge propellers on our inter-island high speed catamaran
on the spot making it possible to keep operating, rather than running Supercat 1200
miles to Fiji. He saved my shipping business a lot of time and money.
We always feel lucky whenever we can consult with Moana Marine on one of our boat
repairs. Tom is extremely knowledgeable. He knows how to do a job right and he
knows what a fair price is. He knows who to work with to get the parts or pieces
fabricated. Tom is extremely likeable and earns the trust that people have in him. It is
hard to find someone so fair and competent. As far as we can tell he knows
everything there is to know about boats and boat repair. Hard earned knowledge
from a lifetime in the boating industry. Working with Moana Marine has been a
lifesaver again and again for us. Thanks for your help! You guys are great!
